Australian Labour Market stronger than expected

The Australian Labour Force numbers for April have come in stronger than expected overall.
From March 2008 to April 2008 the number of employed persons increased 25,400, compared with the expected 10,000. The seasonally adjusted Unemployment Rate was 4.2%, up from 4.1% in March (consensus 4.1% for April). The seasonally adjusted Participation Rate was 65.4%, compared to the consensus of 65.2% and a March figure of 65.3%.
The AUD is higher in immediate response, after dropping slightly on the announcement of the low New Zealand Employment figures.
