US Federal Reserve cut interest rates by a further .50%

The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) decided to cut interest rates by a further .50% today down to 3.00%. Financial markets remain under considerable pressure as credit continues to tighten for some businesses and households. The Committee expects inflation to moderate in coming quarters, but it will be necessary to monitor inflation very closely.
